Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Mulliner Bentley's custom coachbuilding unit, has designed a distinctive keycase to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company. Made from Dark Stained Burr Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure featuring never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre imagery.

Aesthetics
Bentley is a company which takes its aesthetics seriously. It's evident in the exact position of its quilting, the selection of leather from by-products of cattle production, the timber from forests that are sustainably managed and the unique patterns on its levers. The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. Its rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to a production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

They were inspired by the luxury private aircraft. A customized heating, air conditioning, and ventilation system was designed to ensure that every passenger has the ideal temperature control.
The Mulsanne is equipped with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine with 560bhp, and 479lb-ft of torque. This incredible power is complemented by a brand new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature quiet ride.
Bentley has announced a special specification for cars built after 2019 to celebrate its centenary. It is known as the Centenary Specification. The cabin is equipped with cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings are embroidered with Centenary Gold on the headrests as well as the seats and other parts of the car. This adds to the celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a bespoke Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.
Function
The Bentley Mulsanne key features an open button on the trunk, as well as a button that turns on the car. It also has a switch to activate the parking break. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors when parking in tight spots. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.
The key is made from vegetable tanned leather. It takes more than two days to craft each one. It is hand cut, shaped, sewn, sealed and polished to provide a high-quality finish. It is light and compact and will fit the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's massive car key, but feels more substantial and premium.
It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key that helps to prevent theft of keys that are keyless. This device is inserted inside the remote-control key fob, and stops it after a couple of minutes of inactivity. This stops thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the vehicle.

Personalisation
Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their own car. The guests sit at a collection of pictures referred to as "mood stations" and select a series of photos - from scenic vistas to sporting events - that are inspiring to them. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges shows the model, color and style preferences for the personalized Bentley.
The guests receive an individual key case created by hand that houses the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys are also equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening path with the owner's name or emblem as they make their way towards the vehicle.
Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to build and put together the Mulsanne. The refusal to embrace modern technology is the main factor to this laborious task. The Crewe factory workers do not utilize a machine for arranging perfectly matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Drivers have to park their cars manually, instead of using sensors built-in to guide them into perpendicular and parallel spots.
Bentley showcased its Mulliner personalization capabilities with the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays homage to the William Osler, the founder of Bentley. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited edition cars come with an item key that shows the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
